Pattern: Shrug from Debbie Bliss's Cathay pattern book c 2005
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cathay in Peony 10
Size: ?
Started: Approx April '06. I know this because I checked my order history on Yarnmarket. (Yeesh, we won't talk about how much full price yarn and a pattern book costs.)
Finished: Hmmm....some time after that, but quite a while ago. Completely finished 3/22/08
Mods: none. I made it as patterned right down to the color.
Notes:
This was the first sweater that I knit. Does a shrug count? I was a pretty new knitter at the time. I learned some basics of sweater making and seaming. All in all, it turned out pretty well. However, unlike the cover picture mine didn't just lay nicely over my boobs. I wore it once or twice, but didn't like tugging on it. My intension was to find a sweater pin or hook and eye to hold it closed, but never got around to it. I so happened to come across said hook and eye this evening, and I promptly sewed it on.
There is some wonkiness about it that doesn't make me absolutely love the sweater
- The left slanting decreases are funny
- I didn't know how to hid the short row wraps (but I had to learn how to even do short rows)
- The angle at which I picked up stitches along the front "corners" for the collar/edging is too acute
If I didn't have two other sweaters on the needles (one almost certainly will be frogged), I would consider casting on for some of the other cardigans in the book right now.

Happy Birthday!
The shrug looks great. I've never knitted anything with the exact yarn they recommend, I feel like I'm missing out. Weeks and weeks ago I started a sweater with my Christmas present (yarn from knitpicks) and I'm not quite finished with the back. I'll finish it eventually....

It's beautiful, exactly like the picture! (I don't see any wonkiness :)
